Day 231-232 - Perth Mint and Fremantle

On Saturday we had a more successful day exploring Perth.

After some final shopping for Tanzania we spent lunch exploring the Botanical Gardens.

An aesthetically pleasing waterfall

In the afternoon we went for a tour of the Perth Mint. The main attraction of the tour was a live gold pour, which was really cool.

After the gold pour we went round some smaller exhibits. We tried to pick up a bar of gold, looked at examples of proof coins, and weighed ourselves to see what our weight was worth in gold.

Look how much I am worth

Once we had finished we went to the cafe for tea and cake (to increase our value in gold ;) )

The next day we wandered around the markets of Fremantle before meeting Caroline (Gay's daughter for lunch). Gine was also their with her two sons (we looked after their animals) on their way home from Germany, It was great to spend some time with them again.

For lunch we had kangaroo skewers. They tasted like a cross between beef and venison.

After we had said our goodbyes, we downloaded a podcast that would hopefully teach us a few word of Swahili, and drove to Margaret River.

Until Next Time
