Day 215 - Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum

The tiny town of Carnarvon was once involved in manned space missions to the moon. The space communications center operated for 11 years, and was the last to station to communicate with the space capsules before they left the earths orbit.

There were lots of information boards explaining how the tracking station and the OTC satellite earth station were involved with various missions.

It's always amusing to see adverts in old newspapers

There was a mock Apollo 11 Lunar orbiter, where you could put on a suit, go inside, and experience what the astronauts heard and saw in the final minutes before take off.

Obligatory "Pretend that we are in space" photo

There were also lots of interactive exhibits.

At $10 each for admission, we had a very enjoyable couple of hours.

After lunch, we did the final 3hour stretch to Bullara Station, our planned base for exploring Exmouth and Coral Bay.
