Day 198 - Joanna's Birthday
We went to church in Airlie beach in the morning, this is quite unusual in the fact that they average around 20% of the congregation being visitors and tourists to the area. After church we went for another wander around Airlie beach on a lunch hunt to celebrate Joanna's birthday. We chose to have a Pizza, Joanna had a prawn pizza and I had a glazed chicken pizza, these were lovely and set us up for the afternoon ahead.
We then drove to Bowen and had a walk along the jetty, while on the jetty I tried to take some artistic photographs, we then spent some time watching the invertebrates in the mud.
The pier
Art on the peir
Mud Crabs?
We then went to a couple of other view points in the town
In the evening we headed to a lovely campsite at Home Hill, and could see and hear a controlled burn taking place nearby.
Day 199
We started the morning having a swim in the 50m pool next to the campsite, completing 700m. We started out drive to Townsville, stopping off at Ayr on the way for a walk around.
The drive involved a photogenic bridge
And a sugar cane train
Apart from the odd building Ayr was hot and relatively unremarkable
Although Holden and John Deere do have neighboring showrooms
We arrived in Townsville and had a wander along the main street before heading to a look out, this has good views but it had got far to hot. We retreated to a campsite and enjoyed the swimming pool, hot tub and wallaby feeding.

Look out
Feeding time for the wallabies, we think the pouched joey got the best deal.
Till next time
