Day 188 - The Glass House Mountains and Noosa River.

The Glass House Mountains are the remains of volcanic lava plugs. They were named by Captain James Cook as they reminded him of the conical glass houses in Yorkshire. We were able to see them whilst on the boat with Doug.

As we had another long distance to travel, we drove to a lookout, and did a short loop track.

Our ongoing plan was to drive to the town of Noosa. This is a beautiful town next to a headland walk famous for it's diverse ecosystem. Unfortunately, when we got there, it was so busy that after joining the snail of cars searching for a parking space, we were forced to move on. Instead we headed to the quieter Noosa River. Where we wandered along the river edge and indulged in fish and chips for lunch.

After lunch, and with very full bellies, we headed onto Hervey Bay to prepare for our trip to Fraser Island the following morning.

Next Time - Fraser Island
