Days 157-163 - Visting Gay

We have just spent several relaxing day's with Gay in Central Hawkes Bay (CHB), those with good memories may remember that she is my (David's) second cousin once remove. We left our accommodation in Tirau and spent most of the day driving, a half hour stop at the Opepe Memorial gave as a chance to stretch our legs. We arrived with Gay around 4pm and had a good time catching up.

We went for an afternoon drive (we attempted to find a walk) and explored some of the CHB back roads.

The Next day we helped Gay do some work in her large garden, for me this was the fun of mowing the lawns (with a ride on lawn mower!) and for Joanna some pruning and weeding. Joanna was aided (or abetted) by Kahi the Jack Russel who we dog/house sat for last time.

Joanna's little helper?

The Autumn colours were out in force

On Sunday various members of the family who we had met last time were over and we spent lots of time playing snap with Moses (10) and Louis (8) and had a cuddle with their guinea pigs. The goats now have kids and were as photogenic as ever.

The next day we went for a walk with Gay to A'deans bush, this is a local enclave of of ancient woodland.

Next Time on to our final couple of days before leaving New Zealand
